On Sunday, August 4, 2024, at approximately 2:24 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers assigned to the downtown Austin entertainment district responded to the sound of gunfire near the intersection of East 7th and Trinity streets. Officers located a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and transported the victim to the hospital, where he is still being treated.

APD Aggravated Assault detectives and crime scene specialists processed the scene. Investigators gathered information indicating a large disturbance between multiple people prior to the shooting. This disturbance is believed to be directly related to the incident. Investigators have located images of persons of interest involved in the disturbance and are requesting public assistance in identifying them.

The Austin Police Department is asking for any information related to this shooting or the persons of interest. They also believe there may be outstanding videos of this fight or shooting that could help identify those involved.

Anyone with information is asked to contact APD's Aggravated Assault Unit at 512-974-5245. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
