There were five Pacific Islander students enrolled in Orenda Charter School District in the 2022-23 school year, the same number as the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Orenda Charter School District welcomed 1,878 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Pacific Islander students comprised 0.3% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Orenda Charter School District roughly covers schools within Bell County and has a main office in Georgetown.

Gateway College Preparatory School was the only school in the district which enrolled Pacific Islander students, welcoming five students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
