On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a collision between a Capital Metro bus and a motorcycle in the 100 block of East Koenig Lane. The motorcyclist, later identified as Joshua Lee-Michael Babb, was pronounced deceased on scene. A passenger on the bus was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 65th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 70 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 67 fatal crashes resulted in 70 fatalities.
