The City of Austin has formalized a partnership with Archistar, a company specializing in AI-driven property and planning solutions. This collaboration follows a successful three-month pilot program involving Archistar's automated building permit assessment software.

Austin is the first city in the United States to contract with Archistar for its AI-powered platform. The technology, known as eCheck, will initially be applied to single-family residential properties, with future plans to extend its use to other types of reviews. This system aims to enhance efficiency, accuracy, transparency, and speed in the development process.

“We are thrilled to be working with the City of Austin, a recognized leader in innovation within the U.S.," stated Dr. Benjamin Coorey, Founder of Archistar. “Our AI technology will significantly improve approval times, reduce costs, and allow the city to focus on more complex evaluations, creating a more efficient and effective permit review process.”

Additionally, Austin is engaged in another pilot project with Archistar and the International Code Council (ICC). This initiative focuses on automating compliance reviews according to the International Building Code standards. Through these collaborations, Austin seeks to advance how technology supports customers and city staff during development processes.

“With Archistar’s platform, we will be able to provide faster and more informed feedback on building plans, and that’s crucial in our journey to improve the development process," commented José G. Roig, Director of Austin’s Development Services Department. "The eCheck technology will transform the building plan review process, helping us deliver a smoother process for applicants and better service to our community.”
