The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (ESB MACC) will host the 17th annual Dia de los Muertos and MexAmeriCon celebration on November 2, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Oswaldo A.B. Cantu/Pan American Recreation Center in Austin. This event is open to all ages and does not require an RSVP or ticket. Attendees are encouraged to bring folding chairs, water, and snacks, as it is an alcohol-free family event.

Dia de los Muertos will feature altars, art installations, and activities designed to honor loved ones who have passed away. The ESB MACC will present large-scale interactive sculptures by Las Piñatas ATX and community-made altars. Free sugar skull decorating and face painting will be available throughout the event, along with a collective outdoor ofrenda where guests can contribute names and notes.

MexAmeriCon returns for its seventh year as Central Texas' original Mexican American and Latinx Comic Book Convention. It aims to highlight storytelling traditions within the Latinx community through comics, art, and pop culture. The event includes meet-and-greet opportunities with comic artists, panel discussions hosted by My Primos and Susto podcasts, a demonstration of the Aztec card game Nawalli, an artisan market, family-friendly activities like face painting and Lotería, as well as live music performances by DJ Zetroc and Outlet Odyssey.

Las Piñatas ATX will also be featured in the annual Piñata Exhibition organized by AIA Austin's Latinos in Architecture. This exhibition invites community engagement with piñata-inspired artworks while celebrating Austin's Latino heritage.
