The Austin Police Department has announced that its DWI No Refusal Initiative will now be in effect year-round. This enforcement measure will operate from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., every day of the week, throughout the entire year.

The initiative aims to uphold DWI laws and enhance public safety by encouraging drivers to make responsible choices. It includes applying for blood search warrants for suspects who refuse to provide breath or blood specimens as required by law. The focus will be on highways and high-speed roadways.

In collaboration with the City of Austin Transportation and Public Works Department, the Austin Police Department remains committed to preventing fatalities on Austin's streets, highways, and waterways. Their goal is to ensure safe travel for both residents and visitors through education and enforcement efforts.
