In response to potential criminal activities during the first weekend of the 2024 Fall Music Festival, the Austin Police Department (APD) implemented a comprehensive strategy. Officers focused on preventing crime, intervening in ongoing incidents, and apprehending suspects. This approach aimed to reduce risks for festival attendees.

During this period, APD reported two arrests: one individual was detained for evading on foot and another under a request to apprehend. The department also handled 225 service calls and recorded 70 offense reports. Among these reports, 44 involved thefts from persons, with 42 cases specifically concerning stolen cell phones.

The data provided only pertains to incidents within Zilker Park during the festival's first weekend. The APD crime database is subject to updates; thus, figures might vary if accessed at different times. Statistics for the second weekend will be released following the festival's conclusion.

To further mitigate crime rates and prevent property loss, APD advises festival-goers to adhere to safety guidelines. Additionally, individuals with information about criminal activities are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477 (TIPS) or via their app. Informants may receive up to $1,000 in rewards while remaining anonymous.
