Austin police seek public help in finding suspect linked to fatal crash

The Austin Police Department's Vehicular Homicide unit is seeking assistance from the public in identifying a suspect involved in a fatal incident. The crash, which occurred on September 17, 2024, at approximately 6:24 a.m., took place in the 7400 block of Ed Bluestein Boulevard NB. A pedestrian, identified as Frank Ramos, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a vehicle that subsequently fled without stopping or contacting emergency services.

Authorities have described the event as Austin's 64th fatal crash of the year, resulting in 69 fatalities. Comparatively, by this time in 2023, there had been 65 fatal crashes with 68 fatalities.

The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact their Vehicular Homicide unit at 512-974-8111. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477.
