The Austin Police Department's Robbery Unit is seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect linked to a robbery at Smart Deals, located at 3909 N IH-35 Service Road. The incident took place on October 17, 2023, around 11:24 a.m., when a Samsung cell phone was stolen from the store. According to reports, the suspect threatened an employee with a knife after the employee tried to recover the stolen item.
Authorities have released a description and surveillance image of the suspect. They encourage anyone with information about this incident or the suspect’s identity to come forward.
Individuals with details about the driver or vehicle involved are urged to contact APD's Robbery unit at 512-974-5092. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. Information leading to an arrest may result in a reward of up to $1,000.
