Austin Police investigate hit-and-run that killed pedestrian Kyla Walker

On November 10, 2024, the Austin Police Department responded to a tragic incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of East Stassney Lane and Teri Road. The collision occurred around 6:29 p.m., resulting in the death of Kyla Walker, a white female born on January 10, 1985. The driver involved did not remain at the scene.

This event marks Austin's 76th fatal crash of the year, contributing to a total of 81 fatalities. Comparatively, by this date in 2023, there had been 77 fatal crashes with 80 fatalities.

The initial assessment has been released, but the investigation is ongoing. Updates regarding this fatality may emerge as further information becomes available.

The police urge anyone with information about this incident to reach out to APD's Vehicular Homicide unit at 512-974-8111. Tips can also be submitted anonymously via the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward up to $1,000 may be offered for information leading to an arrest.
