APD seeks help identifying suspect in hit-and-run fatal crash

Austin Police Department (APD) detectives are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a fatal crash that occurred on Sunday, November 10, 2024. The incident took place at approximately 6:29 p.m. at the intersection of East Stassney Lane and Teri Road. The pedestrian, Kyla Walker, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a vehicle that fled without stopping.

The APD's Vehicular Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into what has been classified as Austin’s 76th fatal crash of the year, which has resulted in 81 fatalities so far. Comparatively, on the same date last year, there were 77 fatal crashes resulting in 80 fatalities.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding this incident to contact APD's Vehicular Homicide unit at 512-974-8111. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be offered for information leading to an arrest.

The investigation remains ongoing, and details about the fatality may change as more information becomes available.
