Austin's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HSEM) is set to host an Emergency Preparedness Pop-Up event at the Carver Branch Library on November 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. This event is part of a monthly series held in each City Council District throughout the year on the third Wednesday of each month.

The pop-up will feature representatives from HSEM and other city departments, along with emergency response partners. They will provide tips, information, and supplies to attendees. The first 25 guests will receive an emergency supply kit, limited to one per household.

The Emergency Preparedness Pop-Ups offer Central Texas residents an opportunity to learn about preparedness and gather free supplies. The Basic Emergency Preparedness Kits include items valued over $100, such as backpacks, lanterns, glow sticks, battery-powered chargers, NOAA weather radios, Neighborhood Preparedness Guides, and items for children and pets.

Central Texas faces various risks like winter storms, extreme heat, flooding, and wildfires. These events aim to educate the community on necessary actions before, during, and after emergencies.
