Shooting on Goldfinch Court results in one death; suspect arrested

On November 15, 2024, the Austin Police Department responded to a shooting incident in the 8400 block of Goldfinch Court at approximately 12:42 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Travis Holland with an apparent gunshot wound. Mr. Holland was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:01 a.m.

The suspect, identified as William Bruce, was detained by officers on-site. According to the investigation conducted by Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists, it was determined that Mr. Holland was walking in the area when he was shot by Bruce from his porch.

William Bruce has been arrested for first-degree murder and is currently held in Travis County jail.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to this case to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program via their website or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be offered for information leading to an arrest.

This incident marks Austin's 61st homicide of the year.
