APD seeks help in identifying suspect vehicle from fatal crash

Austin Police Department detectives are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect vehicle involved in a fatal crash. The incident occurred on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at approximately 2:08 a.m. in the 10800 block of North Lamar Boulevard. The pedestrian victim was identified as Sauvan Pham, an Asian male born on July 17, 1975. Pham was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to authorities, the suspect vehicle fled north on North Lamar Boulevard immediately following the crash. "Anyone with any information should contact APD's Vehicular Homicide unit at 512-974-8111," reads the police statement. Additionally, tips can be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.

This incident marks Austin's 49th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in a total of 52 fatalities for the year. In comparison, by this date in 2023, there were 56 fatal crashes and 59 fatalities.

The investigation is ongoing and initial assessments are subject to change as more information becomes available.
