The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (ESB MACC) is set to host the 14th annual La Mujer: A Celebration of Women on Saturday, April 26, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Parque Zaragoza in Austin. The event will take place both inside the Parque Zaragoza Recreation Center and outside at the park and outdoor stage.

La Mujer aims to celebrate women and women-identifying individuals within Austin's Mexican American and Latina/o/x/e community. The event is free of charge and open to all ages, gender identities, and cultural backgrounds. It provides a platform for women to be recognized, heard, and empowered through various workshops and activities focused on wellness, justice, know-your-rights initiatives, as well as local visual and performing arts groups.

"All event activities and workshops are free," organizers stated. The gathering will feature women artisans, activists, and community builders. Notably, Judge Bianca Garcia will make a special appearance alongside a marketplace centered around women of color by Frida Friday ATX. Hands-on activities include jewelry making, stickers, and button making.

Organizers emphasize hiring women for roles in producing the event such as graphic design, sound engineering, and artistry. Mental health resources will be available onsite courtesy of Ashwell House. Additional amenities include food trucks, aguas frescas, outdoor seating areas with DJ music playing throughout the day along with raffle prizes up for grabs.

Children attending can enjoy an open playground during the festivities.

Artists Kat Talley and Ruben Esquivel will engage attendees as part of their work on the Art In Public Places sculptural project for ESB-MACC's expansion. They aim to gather inspiration from participants while informing them about their conceptual design goals; attendees can also share personal stories related to ESB-MACC during this interaction.
