On March 2, 2025, around 2:30 a.m., officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) encountered a disturbance at the intersection of 6th Street and Neches Street. They observed an intoxicated individual in a black dress attempting to engage in physical altercations with pedestrians. Officers used whistles to disperse the crowd and approached the scene.

The individual moved away but soon after was seen swinging a closed fist at another person. Officers intervened again, identifying themselves as "Austin Police" while continuing to use whistles as a de-escalation tactic. As they attempted to detain the subject, who resisted by pulling their arms away, an officer grabbed the individual's left arm. In the process of turning them around, the subject fell to their knees and hit their face on the ground.

The individual was handcuffed, assessed by Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS), and subsequently arrested for Disorderly Conduct - Fighting. A supervisor reviewed the incident on-site and informed the Force Review Unit about the use of force involved. The unit evaluated the situation and concluded that it complied with legal standards and departmental policy.

To promote transparency and maintain public trust, APD has released a comprehensive video detailing the events as officers arrived and interacted with the subject.
