The Austin Police Department (APD) Narcotics Support Unit arrested Albert Garcia, 38, in connection with the distribution of controlled substances. The arrest occurred on March 25, 2025, at approximately 8 a.m., when officers executed a search warrant at Garcia's residence on the 8500 block of Birmingham Drive.
The investigation into Garcia began in December 2024 after receiving information about his involvement in cocaine distribution in the Austin area. Detectives gathered evidence through surveillance videos showing Garcia meeting with known narcotics distributors and engaging in suspected transactions. This led to obtaining a search warrant for his residence.
During the search, authorities found $19,294 in cash, 1.2 pounds (548 grams) of fentanyl, and 1.1 pounds (507 grams) of cocaine. Both Garcia and his girlfriend were detained during the operation.
Garcia faces two counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance over 400 grams and is being referred to federal prosecution for these charges. Previously, he was on supervised federal probation for cocaine distribution until July 2026.
"The APD Narcotics Support Unit is committed to removing dangerous drugs, such as fentanyl and cocaine, off the streets," stated an APD representative. "These controlled substances and the suspects who distribute them will not be tolerated in the City of Austin."
The department encourages anyone with information about suspected narcotics dealers to contact them at 512-974-TIPS or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
