On Friday, May 26, 2023, at approximately 12:56 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a sedan and an unidentified pedestrian in the 900 block of W Ben White Boulevard SVRD EB. The unidentified person died at the scene. The driver of the sedan was not injured, remained on scene, and cooperated with the investigation.
This incident is being investigated as Austin's 38th fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 38 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2022, 45 fatal crashes resulted in 46 deaths.
