On December 10, 2023, a tragic incident took place in the 600 block of Congress Avenue, resulting in the death of Jeffery Lewis. The Austin Police Department (APD) received a stabbing call at approximately 4:17 a.m. Responding officers found Lewis lying on the sidewalk with multiple stab wounds.
According to Detective [No name provided], a witness at the scene identified the suspect as Hilario Adrian, a white male. Adrian was subsequently detained by the authorities. It was revealed during the investigation that Lewis and Adrian had been involved in a disturbance that escalated, leading to Adrian stabbing the victim. Adrian later confessed to the detectives that he was responsible for the attack.
Adrian, who has a history of criminal involvement with the Austin Police Department, was out of jail on bond at the time of the murder. He had been arrested in April 2023 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was released on bond in August 2023.
Adrian has now been arrested and charged with first-degree felony murder. The APD's Homicide Unit is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 512-974-TIPS or email homicide.apd@austintexas.gov. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information that leads to an arrest.
This tragic event marks Austin's 71st homicide of 2023. The APD's Homicide Unit, along with Crime Scene Specialists, has been diligently working to process the scene and gather evidence to ensure a fair and thorough investigation.
