The Hays County Sheriff's office recently conducted a homicide investigation in Kyle, Texas, which led them to the discovery of a murder in Austin. The incident took place on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 2005 Willow Creek Drive.
According to the authorities, a family disturbance call prompted the investigation, during which they received information suggesting that David Urias Mejia-Villagran, one of the individuals involved in the call, may have been responsible for the murder. The Austin Police Department (APD) was immediately notified and dispatched officers to the South Shore apartments at the aforementioned address.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of a man identified as Jorge Ordonez-Perez in the parking lot. Perez had sustained gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Homicide Unit detectives and Crime Scene Unit specialists were called in to process the area for evidence.
As the investigation progressed, it became apparent that Villagran had shot Perez during a disturbance related to a romantic relationship Perez had with Villagran's wife. Subsequently, Villagran was taken into custody and charged with first-degree felony murder.
In light of this tragic incident, the APD is urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. Alternatively, individuals may submit anonymous tips through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
This case marks the 72nd homicide in Austin for the year 2023. The authorities are committed to ensuring justice for the victim and holding the perpetrator accountable for their actions.
