On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 11:09 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash involving a single motorcycle at the intersection of East 45th Street and Duval Street. The motorcyclist, Gordon Yang, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased on July 12, 2024.
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 42nd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 44 fatalities for the year. On the same date in 2023, there were 52 fatal crashes resulting in 52 fatalities.
