Pedestrian killed in collision on North Interstate Highway 35

On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at approximately 9:39 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash involving a sedan and an unidentified pedestrian in the 5600 block of North Interstate Highway 35 Southbound. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver remained on site, was not impaired, and is cooperating with the investigation.

This incident marks Austin’s 44th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in a total of 47 fatalities for the year. By comparison, on the same date in 2023, there had been 53 fatal crashes resulting in 53 fatalities.
