Austin Police seek public's help in locating hit-and-run suspect

The Austin Police Department (APD) Highway Enforcement Investigations unit has requested public assistance in locating a suspect connected to a hit-and-run crash that occurred on Sunday, September 24, 2023. The incident took place at approximately 7 p.m. at the intersection of Ohlen Road and Research Boulevard Service Road Southbound lanes. The crash resulted in serious injuries to an elderly victim.

Detectives have identified Nilson Isaac Perez Gomez as a person of interest who may have information regarding the incident. Perez Gomez is described as a Hispanic male, 20 years of age.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Highway Enforcement Investigations Unit at 512-974-5789. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
