The Austin Police Department (APD) has announced new charges and the arrest of a suspect in connection with a 2021 homicide investigation. The case involves the death of Nikolas Eugenio Martinez, who was found with a life-threatening stab wound on July 23, 2021.
On September 18, 2024, an arrest warrant was issued for Mithovar Antoine Jr., charging him with Capital Murder. It was recommended that Antoine receive no bond due to the severity of the charge. The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force was tasked with executing the warrant.
On September 24, 2024, Mithovar Antoine Jr. was located and arrested by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force for the Capital Murder of Nikolas Martinez. He is currently held at Travis County Jail.

Previously released details indicate that on July 23, 2021, Austin 9-1-1 received a call from Martinez reporting he had been stabbed. He managed to drive to a convenience store where citizens attempted to assist him. Despite efforts from APD officers and Austin-Travis County EMS, Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide investigators determined that Martinez had been stabbed by an unknown suspect before driving away and stopping at a Conoco gas station. An autopsy conducted on July 24, 2021, confirmed that Martinez died from a stab wound to the neck and ruled it as homicide.
On September 11, 2024, a First-Degree Murder warrant was issued for Mithovar Antoine Jr., leading to his initial arrest in Temple, Texas on September 12, 2024. He was booked into Bell County Jail with a $150,000 bond but bonded out on September 16, 2024.
This case marks Austin's 48th homicide of 2021.
