The City of Austin's Economic Development Department, in collaboration with the Austin Youth Council, has postponed the 12th Annual Youth Career Fest. Initially set for January 22, the event is now scheduled for February 11 at the Palmer Events Center from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This decision was made due to expected cold winter weather conditions, prioritizing the safety of all participants including students, educators, exhibitors, and volunteers.

"We are committed to hosting a successful and safe Youth Career Fest that meets the needs of our community," stated Anthony Segura, Interim Director of the Economic Development Department. "While this was not an easy decision, the well-being of everyone involved is paramount. We look forward to welcoming students and stakeholders on February 11 for an inspiring and engaging event."

The event will maintain its original lineup of exhibitors such as St. David’s HealthCare, Texas Workforce Solutions, Samsung, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, along with various State of Texas and City departments. Universities like The University of Texas at Austin, Texas State University, the University of Alabama, and Texas A&M University will also participate. Over 50 schools from Austin ISD and nearby districts including Leander ISD, Round Rock ISD, and Hays CISD have registered more than 3,500 students from grades 8-12 to attend.

The City of Austin Economic Development Department aims to support business growth alongside creative industries and local communities through programs that build an equitable and sustainable economy for Austin residents' benefit.
