On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at approximately 12:16 p.m., Austin 9-1-1 received a call from a family member requesting a welfare check on her niece and her niece’s husband. The complainant stated she had not been in contact with either of them in the past 24 hours. At approximately 1:13 p.m., the complainant called back and stated she was on scene and that the couple’s vehicle was parked outside but there was no answer at the door.

At approximately 2:33 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) patrol officers arrived at 5705 Diehl Trail. Upon making entry, officers found the couple deceased.

The niece was identified as Hannah Kang, and the husband was identified as Youree Kang.

The current evidence supports the belief that Youree killed Hannah, and then himself.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. You may submit your tip anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477.

This case is being investigated as Austin's 46th homicide of 2024.
