Shooting on Burton Drive marks Austin's 53rd homicide in 2024

Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a shooting incident on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at approximately 10:35 p.m. The event took place in the 2100 block of Burton Drive. The victim, identified as Keshawn Ramonce Cage, was found with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists were dispatched to process the location and gather witness statements. The investigation revealed that an unidentified suspect shot Cage. As of now, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

This incident marks Austin's 53rd homicide of the year 2024.
