The City of Austin has announced the Request for Applicants (RFA) for the Homelessness Prevention initiative designated as RFA HSO 2025-002. Eligible participants consist of both nonprofit organizations and government entities with a proven track record in providing homelessness prevention services. The primary goal of the RFA is to deliver time-limited rental assistance, financial support, and services to residents of Austin/Travis County who are at risk of homelessness.

According to the city's statement, "The objectives of this funding are to connect households at risk of homelessness to time-limited rental assistance, financial assistance, and services that can resolve periods of serious housing insecurity, thereby helping participants avoid episodes of homelessness." The initiative aims to address housing instability early, which may contribute to decreasing the rates of homelessness.

The program will be financed with $2,212,508 in one-time General Funds. The timeline for the application process has been clearly outlined. The date for submission of intent to apply is set for May 6, 2025, by 3 PM CST, with the complete proposals due by May 20, 2025, at 3 PM CST. The anticipated start date for contracts is August 1, 2025. Questions about the proposal are accepted until May 15, 2025.

Those interested can access a range of required documents, including solicitation provisions, scope of work specifics, and program budget requirements. Submissions are to be made through Partnergrants, with forms and additional resources available in various formats such as PDF, MS Word, and MS Excel.

Optional pre-bid meetings are available for prospective applicants, with a session scheduled for April 24, 2025, at 2 PM. Working office hours for further queries or submissions assistance are set for May 8, 2025, at 2 PM.

For more information, potential applicants are encouraged to contact Poleth Robledo from the Homeless Strategy Office via the email provided.
