Austin police seek help identifying suspect in fatal hit-and-run

The Austin Police Department (APD) is seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a fatal traffic incident. The incident occurred on March 23, 2024, at around 5:04 a.m. in the 5000 block of North IH-35 NB.

According to the APD Vehicular Homicide Unit, the suspect struck a pedestrian and left the scene without providing aid. The pedestrian was declared deceased at the location.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact APD's Vehicular Homicide unit at 512-974-8111. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-TIPS. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
