The Austin Police Department (APD) Aggravated Assault Unit is actively investigating an incident involving aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. The event took place on October 22, 2024, at around 4:21 p.m. in the 2500 block of Elmont Drive.

According to the APD, officers initially responded to a disturbance call regarding a stolen phone. Despite efforts, neither the suspect nor the phone was found. Officers documented the incident for further investigation by detectives and left the scene shortly after.

Later, at approximately 5:14 p.m., officers returned to the location following reports of a crash. Upon arrival, they discovered several victims who appeared to have been hit by a vehicle and a food truck that was on fire. Two victims sustained minor injuries, while two others were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigations revealed that the woman who reported her phone stolen allegedly used her vehicle to strike two individuals at the food truck, pinning one between her car and the truck. She also reportedly threatened someone with a knife at the scene. It was determined that the accused victim did not possess her phone, which remains missing. There is no known connection between the suspect and any of the victims.

At present, neither descriptions of the suspect nor their vehicle are available, and no arrest has been made.

This case is being treated as an aggravated assault with a motor vehicle and involves charges related to failing to stop and render aid after an accident. Authorities consider it an isolated incident without any ongoing threat to public safety.

The investigation continues as police seek assistance from anyone with information about this case. Individuals can contact APD's Aggravated Assault unit or submit tips anonymously through Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program for potential rewards leading to an arrest.
