U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul has reached out to Postmaster General DeJoy regarding ongoing issues with the United States Postal Service (USPS) in Bryan and College Station, Texas. In a letter, McCaul highlighted several problems affecting his constituents, including delayed or lost mail that has impacted seniors and small businesses.

"Constituents have conveyed distressing stories of checks, bills, and medication being delayed or lost in transit," wrote Rep. McCaul. "These conditions are completely unacceptable, and as the federal representative for this area, it is my duty to conduct oversight and seek accountability for the postal service’s failures."

The letter outlines various complaints received by McCaul's office about extended delays and missing mail in the Brazos Valley region. These issues have raised concerns about USPS' reliability ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

McCaul also mentioned reports of neighborhood cluster mailboxes being left open, which could expose residents' mail to theft or tampering.

"When deliveries cannot be completed or are delayed, customer service representatives must be available to address the issue," he stated. He emphasized that USPS leadership should act promptly to resolve these problems.

While expressing support for local postal workers, McCaul urged for adequate resources to help them perform their duties effectively.

He posed several questions to Postmaster General DeJoy seeking clarity on the causes of these issues and what measures are being taken to rectify them. Additionally, he asked what legislative actions Congress might consider if staffing shortages are contributing to these problems.

McCaul concluded by thanking USPS for addressing these concerns and expressed anticipation for a response from DeJoy.
