Austin Police Department (APD) officers were called to the 500 block of Thrasher Lane early Friday morning, December 13, 2024, following reports of a shooting incident. Upon arrival at approximately 3:53 a.m., they discovered an unresponsive male with gunshot wounds in the front yard. The victim was identified as Erik Tijerina, a Hispanic male born on February 15, 1979.
Mr. Tijerina was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries but was pronounced dead on Sunday, December 15, at 2:50 p.m.
Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists were deployed to process the location and gather witness testimonies. Preliminary findings indicate that several individuals exchanged gunfire in the area where Mr. Tijerina was found. The investigation remains active.
Authorities urge anyone with information regarding this case to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest.
This incident marks Austin's 69th homicide of the year.
