Austin Water crews addressed a sanitary sewer overflow following the discovery of a broken 16-inch wastewater sewer main near Cyrilla Drive. The issue was identified at 9:32 am, prompting repair teams to act swiftly to halt and contain the overflow. An estimated 115,000 gallons of wastewater spilled into a nearby dry creek bed and pond. Current assessments indicate no harm to fish or other aquatic life.

The incident has not impacted Austin's drinking water supply. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has been informed about the situation.

Austin Water officials are available for inquiries at their Public Information Office via phone at 512-972-0155.
