On March 31, 2025, at 3:10 a.m., the Austin Police Department received several reports of a shooting in the 13000 block of Harrisglenn Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim with apparent gunshot wounds inside a black sedan that had hit a utility pole. The victim, identified as Derick Fajardo-Reyes, was transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead at 7:17 a.m.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists began their investigation by processing the scene and interviewing witnesses. The initial findings revealed that the vehicle Mr. Fajardo-Reyes was in had been shot at while it contained other passengers. The suspect fled the scene and is still at large.
Before the incident, Mr. Fajardo-Reyes was reportedly with an unidentified woman. The Austin Police Homicide Unit is looking for information to identify her. They urge anyone with additional photos, videos, or potential evidence to submit them.
