Austin police investigate 21st fatal crash of 2025 on N. Capitol of Texas Hwy

In the early hours of March 31, 2025, officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) were dispatched to the scene of a fatal single-car accident in the 8800 block of North Capitol of Texas Highway Northbound. At approximately 1:55 a.m., APD reported that the vehicle's driver, identified as Malachi J. Jensen, had died at the scene. Jensen was documented as a white male born on April 10, 2007. A passenger in the vehicle suffered injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, these injuries were non-life-threatening.

The tragic incident marks the 21st fatal crash in Austin for the year 2025, culminating in a total of 25 deaths. Comparatively, on this date last year, there were 20 fatal crashes resulting in 20 deaths. The investigation into this accident remains ongoing. The authorities have cautioned that the current information is preliminary and subject to updates as more details become available.
