On April 5, 2025, at about 1:24 a.m., a fatal accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred in the 1200 block of North IH35 SB. According to the Austin Police Department (APD), the pedestrian was declared dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were unharmed, with the driver confirmed not to be under the influence, and both cooperated during the investigation.
This case marks Austin’s 22nd fatal crash of 2025, accounting for 26 fatalities. Comparatively, by this time in 2024, there had been 20 fatal crashes resulting in 20 deaths. The investigation is ongoing, and the information about the fatality may be updated as new details emerge.
