Austin parks prepares to wrap up 2025 lifeguard recruiting campaign

The Aquatic Division of Austin's Parks and Recreation Department is nearing the conclusion of its 2025 lifeguard recruiting efforts. Two upcoming hiring events are scheduled from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on April 17 and May 1 at 2818 San Gabriel St.

The starting pay for lifeguards in Austin is set at $21.63 per hour. The department plans to bring several hundred new lifeguards onboard before the school summer break commences.

Candidates are advised to fill out the online application prior to attending an event, and they must bring their social security card along with a State of Texas-issued identification. Attendees can also enjoy free pizza at these events.
