The Austin Police Department (APD) has made significant progress in the investigation of the Lakeline Mall shooting that took place on January 2, 2025. Two suspects have been arrested as part of this case, with the APD Aggravated Assault Unit Detectives conducting the arrests on April 2, 2025.

The first suspect, a juvenile male, has been taken into custody and is currently held at the Williamson County Juvenile Detention Facility. He faces charges of Aggravated Assault and one count of Deadly Conduct. The second suspect, identified as 20-year-old Yaneth Medina, was arrested and is being held in the Travis County Jail. Medina is charged with Tampering with Evidence, classified as a third-degree felony.

APD continues to seek assistance from the public. Any individuals with information about the incident are encouraged to contact the APD's Aggravated Assault Unit at 512-974-5245. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program via their website, austincrimestoppers.org, or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information that contributes to an arrest.

The original incident occurred at approximately 3:55 p.m. inside the Lakeline Mall, located at the 11200 block of Lakeline Mall Drive. At the time, the suspect and a victim promptly left the scene, which initially led investigating agencies to believe no injuries were sustained due to the delayed medical treatment. It was later established that the victim had sustained minor injuries and went to the hospital on their own accord.

Those who might have videos, photos, or other evidence related to the incident are encouraged to share them with the authorities. Details and descriptions of the suspect were included in the release to further aid the investigation.
