Austin, TX - In a tragic incident on Saturday, March 23, 2024, a fatal traffic crash occurred in the 5000 block of North Interstate Highway 35 NB, resulting in the death of an unidentified pedestrian. The Austin Police Department (APD) responded to the scene at approximately 5:04 a.m., where the pedestrian was pronounced deceased.
According to reports, the driver involved in the crash failed to stop and provide aid, choosing instead to flee the scene. This unfortunate event has been classified as Austin's 19th fatal crash of the year, adding to the total of 19 fatalities in 2024.
