To address Labor Day Weekend public safety concerns at Commons Ford Ranch Metropolitan Park, the Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) will limit vehicle capacity during this high-use holiday weekend. This adjustment helps ensure proper ingress and egress for emergency and staff vehicles.
These parking and operational changes were successfully tested earlier this summer during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
Beginning on Friday, August 30, PARD will limit parking to specified areas within Commons Ford. Park Rangers will assist with directing traffic and explaining the change in operations. No parking will be allowed outside the park’s gated entrance. Vehicles parked outside the gated entrance along Commons Ford Rd. will be subject to towing.
Once capacity is reached, no additional vehicles will be allowed to enter. Current modified parking will be in effect from Friday, August 30 through Labor Day, Monday, September 2.
PARD requests park visitors be considerate of each other and local residents, carpool when possible, and practice Leave No Trace principles: plan ahead and prepare; dispose of waste properly; leave what you find; respect wildlife. Taking care of Austin's parks requires everyone's help to preserve natural spaces and public places.
