As many travelers know, Labor Day provides an extended weekend, offering an ideal opportunity for a vacation. The Austin Airport has observed that this period often leads to increased travel activity. To assist passengers in navigating a bustling terminal, the airport offers several travel tips for Central Texas.

Travelers are advised to arrive early to avoid delays. As of February 2024, Checkpoint 3 is closed due to ongoing construction on the West Infill project, expected to be completed by 2026. Passengers can follow updates on the Journey With AUS Construction page.

For packing guidelines, TSA.gov provides detailed information on what items are allowed in carry-on and checked luggage. The TSA’s searchable "What Can I Bring?" list is also available for reference.

Parking at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) can be managed by checking real-time availability at ABIAParking.com. However, reservations for the Red Garage, Blue Garage, and Economy Parking will not be available until August 10, 2024, to ensure open access during peak summer travel.

Once through security, travelers can enjoy various amenities such as XpresSpa locations and retail shops. More details can be found in the blog "Savor the Superb: West Terminal Delights at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport."

The Department of Aviation will have additional staff during peak periods to assist with line management and navigation. Travelers are encouraged to ask airport employees for help if needed and to maintain patience and respect throughout their journey.
