The caller, an employee of the apartment complex, reported that someone had run up to him and began attacking him.

Upon arrival, officers found a male identified as Adrian Lopez with an apparent gunshot wound in the parking lot. Lopez was pronounced deceased at 2:42 p.m.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. The investigation revealed that Lopez had randomly assaulted the employee and further threatened him with pepper spray, prompting the employee to shoot his attacker.

The Travis County district attorney’s office reviewed the case, and no charges are being filed at this time; however, the investigation remains ongoing.
