The Austin Police Department (APD) has announced that officers will be on patrol and enforcing a DWI No Refusal Initiative during the upcoming Labor Day Weekend. The operation began on Thursday, August 29, and will continue through Monday, September 2, 2024.

This initiative aims to enforce DWI laws, encourage drivers to make responsible decisions, and apply for blood search warrants on suspects who refuse to provide a breath or blood specimen as required by law. The focus will also include highways, high-speed roadways, and waterways.

The Austin Police Department and the City of Austin Transportation and Public Works Department are committed to preventing fatalities on Austin's streets, highways, and waterways. Their efforts are directed towards making the roadways and waterways of Austin safe for both residents and visitors through education and enforcement.
