The Austin Police Department (APD) has released a video of a suspect linked to the homicide investigation of Nathan Ockleberry. The release comes as part of ongoing efforts by the APD Homicide Unit Detectives to solve the case.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at approximately 2:40 a.m. at 12636 Research Boulevard. Officers responding to reports of a shooting discovered two males with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. One victim, Nathan Ockleberry, was declared dead at the scene at 3:01 a.m., while another injured male was transported to a local hospital by Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services. A third individual was later identified as having sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, a large group had gathered in multiple vehicles in the parking lot when an altercation escalated into gunfire. Ockleberry was shot and killed by the suspect, who subsequently fled in a vehicle. The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue processing evidence and interviewing witnesses.
This incident marks Austin's 49th homicide for the year 2024.
