On October 14, 2024, at approximately 7:18 a.m., officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a report of two individuals with gunshot wounds in the parking lot at 1805 Burton Drive. Upon arrival, APD officers and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) found a male and female inside a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds. The victims were identified as Francis Anseume-Corredo and Bryan Flores Alvarez. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by 8 a.m.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists arrived to process the scene and interview witnesses. Surveillance footage from the complex revealed that Sherles Machado-Hernandez, the common-law husband of Anseume-Corredo, arrived in a silver SUV around 3:25 a.m. The investigation indicated that Machado-Hernandez approached the victim's GMC, opened the passenger door, shot both victims, and fled in his silver Mitsubishi Outlander.

Further inquiries revealed that Anseume-Corredo had three children, two of whom were fathered by Machado-Hernandez. When neither Machado-Hernandez nor the children could be located initially, an Amber Alert was issued. Subsequently, family members reported having custody of the children after Machado-Hernandez left them with his brother before borrowing his Toyota vehicle.

The Toyota was later seen entering an apartment complex on Wickersham Lane where Machado-Hernandez switched to another vehicle—a Kia Sorrento. A coordinated effort involving APD patrol officers, APD Air1, APD Metro-tac units, the APD Violent Crimes Task Force, APD Tactical Intel Unit, and the Department of Public Safety (DPS) led to a traffic stop on Fairfield Drive in north Austin where Machado-Hernandez was apprehended without incident.

Machado-Hernandez has been charged with capital murder and is currently held at Travis County Jail. This case marks Austin's 51st and 52nd homicides for 2024.

Authorities urge anyone with additional information to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS or submit tips anonymously through Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program via their website or by calling 512-472-8477.
