The Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) has announced its acquisition of Twelve100, a multifamily property situated near the Domain and along the Northern Walnut Creek Trail in Austin, Texas. This move aims to preserve and enhance affordable housing options in proximity to major employment and entertainment hubs.
"Twelve100 marks our largest acquisition yet and a huge win for affordability in North Austin," said Mandy DeMayo, Interim Director for the Housing Department and Treasurer of AHFC. "We are grateful to our partners who make such affordability wins possible."
In collaboration with the Texas Housing Conservancy and Civicap Partners, AHFC's acquisition is designed to support long-term affordability while offering programs to foster community building and improve resident outcomes. The addition of this large multifamily property to AHFC's portfolio ensures that affordable rent will remain accessible in the area for years ahead.
This preservation effort aligns with the goals outlined in the Austin Strategic Housing Blueprint, which aims to increase affordable housing units throughout the city. With this acquisition, AHFC has now preserved 845 units of naturally occurring affordable housing across eight properties over two-and-a-half years.
"By acquiring Twelve100, we are securing a well-located property that allows us to preserve affordability in one of Austin’s most desirable neighborhoods. We remain committed to ensuring that our residents have access to quality housing that fosters community and stability," stated Monica Medina, President & CEO of Texas Housing Conservancy.
Jon Mendoza, Director of Acquisitions at Texas Housing Conservancy, added that "Twelve100 provides an incredible opportunity to ensure that essential members of Austin’s workforce can live near where they work, helping maintain the fabric of the city."
Twelve100 comprises 384 units offering one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. Applicants interested in participating in the Affordable Housing Program at Twelve100 must meet specific income requirements based on household size and median family income (MFI) for the area.
