The City of Austin is set to open applications for the Artist Access Program (AAP) 2026 season on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 10 a.m. The deadline for submissions is Saturday, March 15 at 11:59 p.m.
The AAP offers free or low-cost rehearsal and production spaces to performance artists in the Austin area. It aims to support both emerging and established artists by collaborating with the City of Austin’s Cultural Centers. These partnerships help produce professional performances for audiences both local and visiting.
Artists and arts organizations participating in the program benefit from extended rehearsal hours and opportunities to hold public performances at minimal costs. Specifically, they can rent space for free or pay a reduced fee of $1.00 per ticket sold. Additional advantages include access to marketing resources, event planning assistance, and support from PARD’s arts and culture staff.
Current participants in the program include organizations such as Bottle Alley Theatre Company, Re-Claim!, Austin Dance Ensemble, Austin Dance India, Austin Samba, Austin Sister Cities International's - Diversity Band, Early Era Collective, Escandalo Improvised Telenovelas, Dance Waterloo, Kung Fu Cowgirl, Austin Shakespeare, Glass Half Full Theatre, Lannaya Drum and Dance.
For further details on how to apply or participate in the Artist Access Program, interested parties are encouraged to visit the program's webpage or contact AAPInfo@austintexas.gov.
