U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul has expressed support for a new collaboration between Texas A&M University and the RELLIS Campus aimed at developing small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs). This initiative is expected to enhance energy security, promote economic growth, and bolster national security.

“Texas A&M continues to lead the way in innovation, and this partnership with RELLIS is a game-changer for our energy future,” said Rep. McCaul. “Small modular reactors offer a safe, efficient, and reliable source of clean energy, and this collaboration will create jobs, spur economic growth, meet critical energy needs, and position Texas at the forefront of nuclear technology. I look forward to seeing the incredible advancements that come from this partnership and the impact it will have on Texas and the nation.”

The partnership plans to establish a research and development hub dedicated to SMRs at Texas A&M. This project marks Texas A&M as the first university in the United States to build and test these advanced nuclear reactors. The initiative aims to provide workforce training, foster innovation, and create opportunities for public-private partnerships in nuclear energy.

Congressman McCaul has been an advocate for energy innovation and national security policies that aim to reduce dependence on foreign energy sources while enhancing American leadership in nuclear technology.
