On February 18, 2025, at around 8:52 a.m., a tragic incident occurred in the 1900 block of East Ben White Boulevard SVRD EB. The Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Emergency services from Austin-Travis County transported the pedestrian, identified as Isiah Turner, to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities as they conduct their investigation. This marks Austin's seventh fatal crash of the year, resulting in seven fatalities. Comparatively, on this date in 2024, there were ten fatal crashes leading to ten deaths.
"The investigation is ongoing," noted APD officials, who emphasized that initial assessments may change as more information becomes available.
