The Austin Parks and Recreation Department’s Oakwood Cemetery has unveiled a new online exhibit titled “Unificar, to Unite.” This exhibit delves into the history and contemporary activities of Tejano organizations, highlighting their achievements and efforts in advocating for social change in Texas.
The exhibit presents the narratives of multiple generations of Tejano social justice leaders, available in both English and Spanish.

Additionally, Oakwood Cemetery Chapel will host a celebratory workshop named “Unificando Hoy (Uniting Today)” on Saturday, July 27, 2024. The event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 1601 Navasota St.
Tejano community organizers from various Texas-based organizations will lead sessions during the workshop. These sessions aim to educate attendees on community organization techniques, discuss advocacy strategies, and provide insights into the workings behind social and political movements.
Attendance is free of charge, with complimentary parking available at the cemetery.
